I’ve been very busy (thanks to great clients) during the first few weeks of 2018. During that time I’ve been thinking about the similarities between two of my passions: business and sports.
I’m a die-hard fan of the San Francisco 49ers. They are the only sports team that I’ll watch even when they are playing poorly. Lately, they’ve really struggled, and I’ve spent many a Sunday afternoon yelling at my TV screen (crazy, I know) in frustration.
In 2017 things started to turn around a bit, and the future looks bright for the team (and the fans).
A couple of weeks ago I read through the transcript of the end of year news conference that the General Manager, Jon Lynch, and the Head Coach, Kyle Shanahan held. I was interested in their perspectives and using that as a platform I’ve developed

- Face the Brutal Facts
- Establish the Culture
- Commit to Winning
- Build Winning Processes
- Talent Acquisition and Development
- Leadership Unity and Communication
- Hard Work
I’ve put together a short video overview of the 7 ways. Check it out:
Much of the success of a football team and a construction company is a direct reflection of the quality of the leadership team.
With that in mind, I’m hosting an online leadership workshop on Friday, February 2nd:
